 Voice Threads: The Link

Social media etiquette is how you behave responsibly and respectfully on platforms like Instagram and Twitter. It involves thinking before you post, being mindful of how your words and actions can affect others, and maintaining a positive and professional image online. Good social media etiquette includes avoiding offensive or harmful content, respecting other people’s opinions, and not sharing private or sensitive information. It also means staying calm during disagreements instead of reacting emotionally, since posts can spread quickly and have long term consequences ruining your reputation.

Antonio Brown’s situation shows how repeated off field behavior can damage even an elite career. His actions, including conflicts with teams, coaches and unpredictable behavior, were made worse by controversial posts on Instagram and Twitter. It hurt hurt his reputation, created distractions, and made teams see him as unreliable even tho he was such a talented Wide Receiver. This situation could have been avoided with more support and better decision making. Stronger mental health resources, consistent accountability from teams, and a reliable support system could have helped control the situation before it ended up getting worse. Managing social media more carefully and fixing conflicts privately would have also reduced public controversy and kept the focus on his performance rather than his actions.

Overall, social media etiquette is about using good judgment and understanding that what you post online can impact your reputation, relationships, and future opportunities. We have to take what Antonio Brown did and learn that this is what your nor supposed to do. Always think before you do something and be aware of the consequences.

  2. I enjoyed that you highlighted his mental state, it seemed like he needed help but didn’t receive the right type or any help at all to prevent this from escalating and leaving his profession. Think before you post and ensure that it won’t put a negative light on who you are or want to be.

  6. good job on your presentation and explaining why it’s important to be professional on and off the field when you have a fan base and are known across the country. I feel like Twitter gives people too much freedom and they don’t understand how big they really are. This is a good topic to talk about.

  7. Antonio brown is a perfect example of poor social media etiquette. Even before the pr related incidents and storming off the field, AB had many behavioral issues with former teams which caused him to be traded around for years. He was a great football player and its a shame that he tarnished his image in that sort of way. I believe there was also an incident of him exposing himself to viewers online.
